השחייה הישראלית וכלל ענפי המים בישראל התבשרו הערב (שלישי) על מינוי יוקרתי במיוחד בצמרת התאחדות השחייה האירופית LEN. עו"ד נעם צבי, אשר מכהן בתפקידים בכירים בארגון כבר מספר שנים, מונה לתפקיד המזכיר הכללי של ההתאחדות, העמדה השלישית בבכירותה בארגון.

כזכור, צבי כבר שבר בעבר תקרת זכוכית ונבחר לתפקיד סגן נשיא התאחדות השחייה האירופית, אולם כעת מונה לתפקיד יוקרתי עוד יותר. בתוקף תפקידו כמזכ"ל הארגון יהיה אחראי צבי על הקשר עם 52 המדינות החברות ב-LEN, וכן אחראי על כלל פעילות משרד ה-LEN בכל חמשת ענפי המים האולימפיים.

נשיא האיגוד האירופאי וסגן נשיא האיגוד העולמי אנטוניו סילבה הפורטוגלי ציין בהודעה שנשלחה לכלל האיגודים את תרומתו הרבה של צבי לארגון במרוצת השנים והוסיף יחד עם ברכות לשאר המינויים החדשים בארגון: "אני רוצה להודות לנעם צבי, איש מקצוע מנוסה בתחום, שהסכים לעשות את הצעד קדימה ולתפוס את מקום המזכ"ל".

יו"ר איגוד השחייה מיקי חליקה בירך ואמר: "זה כבוד רב לענפי המים הישראליים ולמדינה בכלל שאחד משלנו, שהיה מאמן אולימפי ושנים בצמרת איגוד השחייה, מגיע לעמדת מפתח שכזו. בשם משפחת השחייה הישראלית כולה, אני רוצה לברך את נעם. אני סמוך ובטוח כי מינויו יסייע וימשיך להרים את ענפי המים שלנו לרמות עוד יותר גבוהות".
